# Home

> Read your organization's AI governance at a glance: what needs you, how compliant your AI systems are, and what your AI traffic is doing.

Home is the first screen after you sign in. It tells you whether anything is wrong, what to do next, and how your organization is doing. Every figure opens the screen with the detail behind it.

If one part of Home cannot load, it says so in place with **Try again**, and the rest still works.

## The briefing

The top line says how many things need you, or **Nothing needs you today.** Under it are four figures. Point at a dotted label to see how a figure is worked out.

* **Compliance posture**: how many of the requirements for each AI system's risk level are met, averaged across your AI systems, with a line for the past year. See [Posture](/ai-systems/posture.md).
* **High risk after controls**: how many AI systems are still rated High or Very high once their controls count, next to the number before controls. See [Risk rating](/ai-systems/risk-rating.md).
* **Control effectiveness**: the share of attacks your organization's guardrails caught in the latest [red-team run](/guardrails/red-team.md).
* **Open incidents**, and how many are serious. See [Incidents](/incidents.md).

There is no single risk score out of 100. A rating places an AI system inside its EU AI Act category, so averaging ratings would produce a number no auditor could check. Each figure here can be explained in one sentence.

If your organization has the AI Gateway but not governance, the briefing shows **Traffic in registered AI systems** and **Spend this month** instead.

## Needs you

Up to five things you can act on, each with one action, most urgent first. **View all** opens [Alerts](/alerts.md). You may see:

* your open alerts;
* serious incidents you hold or that concern your AI systems;
* AI systems waiting for your approval;
* traffic on keys that belong to no AI system, if you run the AI Gateway (see [Discover](/discover.md));
* an access review still open;
* setup steps still to do.

## Your work

The AI systems you own, the assessments you started and the incidents you hold. It is hidden when you have none. For a Member, it comes first.

## Portfolio

Every AI system that is not retired:

* **Risk**: how many AI systems sit at each rating, before and after controls. Select part of the bar to list them.
* **EU AI Act**: how many are in each category.
* **Lifecycle**: how many are in each stage, and which one has waited longest for review.

## AI traffic

Spend, requests and guardrail violations through the [AI Gateway](/ai-gateway/overview.md), for owners, admins and Governance Leads. Each figure has a daily line and a change against the period before. Choose **This month**, **30 days** or **This quarter**.

## Proof

How ready you are for an audit today: how much traffic is registered and guarded, how many assessments are current, how many AI systems went live with an approval, and the state of the [access review](/access-reviews.md). **Prepare an audit pack** opens [Compliance](/compliance.md).

## What each role sees

Members see the portfolio read only. Auditors see the briefing, the portfolio and proof, read only, without Needs you or Your work. Owners, admins and Governance Leads see everything, including AI traffic.

## A new organization

Until your first AI system is registered or your first request arrives, Home shows **Set up Altrum** with the steps that apply to you:

1. **Register your first AI system.**
2. **Add a provider credential**, so the AI Gateway can reach your model providers.
3. **Create a key** for your applications and people.
4. **Apply organization guardrails** to traffic that belongs to no AI system.
5. **Invite your team.**

After that, any step still to do appears in Needs you.
